Our Founding and Legacy
In 1986 Mr. Vasudevan our chairman’s dream of starting his own company became a reality as he was able to start Janatha steels at No. 20 Quarry Road, Colombo 12 with only three staffs. Though he was under his father’s stable company since he wanted to excel in his own, he took a risk to come out and persuade his dream. His determination and hard work soon reaped results as Janatha Steels cemented its authority in the steel market. The companies’ goals were made easy as the country was then under His excellency The President Ranasinghe Premadasa was starting many new projects which was in demand for steel related materials and tools. Capitalizing on this Mr. Vasudevan used his knowledge and expertise to move forward. His achievements were even recognized by the CEO magazine as he featured in 2022 march special edition. The company has completed 38 years and have achieved many mile stones and its more than what Mr. Vasudevan ever dreamed of.

Expanding Horizons
After Janatha steels established itself in the Steel market various other sectors such as Stationery, Pharmaceuticals equipment, Agriculture machines, automobiles and Paints were touched upon and those also tasted immediate success. After the involvements of both the sons of Mr. Vasudevan the company ventured into the above new sectors.
