Chiranjaya Udumullage

Don Janith Chiranjaya Udumullage, a Sri Lankan entrepreneur born in 1986 in Colombo, is the founder of several companies, including Beijing Sri Road Connection Trade Company Ltd, Ceylon Tips Branding Pvt Ltd, Trust Holidays, Udumullage Gem & Jewellery, Sino Experts, and China (Beijing) International Trade Company Ltd.

Chiranjaya's father, the late Mr. Thilak Udumullage, was a pioneering figure in fostering China-Sri Lanka relations. He was a member of the China-Sri Lanka Friendship Association and one of the founding members of the Confucius Institute at Lumbini College.

Chiranjaya attended Isipathana College, where he served as Head Prefect. He later earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 2006 and a Master's degree in Computer Science in 2013 from the University of Science and Technology, Beijing.

During his studies, Chiranjaya developed a deep fascination with Chinese culture and society, which led him to extend his stay in China to further immerse himself in its business landscape. After completing his Master's degree, he traveled frequently between Sri Lanka and China, seeking investors to realize his vision of promoting Sri Lankan-made products in the Chinese market.

In 2012, Chiranjaya established his first business, Udumullage Gem & Jewellery, followed by the introduction of the renowned Sri Lankan tea brand "Lions" to the Chinese market in 2013. In 2014, he founded his own travel company, Trust Holidays.

Despite facing challenging international trade laws and regulations, Chiranjaya single-handedly raised LKR 60 million in capital and launched Beijing Sri Road Connection, aligning with China’s Belt and Road Initiative. His mission was to help Sri Lankan brands enter the Chinese market while bridging the language barrier for businesses.

Between November 2018 and December 2019, Chiranjaya and his team actively participated in over 40 trade events across China, promoting Sri Lankan products. However, the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 profoundly impacted global trade, temporarily halting his expansion plans in China.

During this period, Chiranjaya laid the groundwork for a manufacturing company specializing in Sri Lankan products. This led to the establishment of Ceylon Tips in Colombo, Sri Lanka—a sister company of Beijing Sri Road Connection. The mission of Ceylon Tips was to manufacture "Made in Sri Lanka" products for the Chinese market.

Ceylon Tips earned the distinction of launching the first flagship store outside Sri Lanka under the "Made in Sri Lanka" initiative. The store was inaugurated by Hon. Wimal Weerawansa, Minister of Industries.

Today, Sri Road and Ceylon Tips remain committed to creating business opportunities for Sri Lankan manufacturers and producers across the globe.
